Proxies for review monitoring, market by market

Track new reviews and ratings for your brand, your products and your competitors across review sites, marketplaces, app stores and map listings. Many platforms show different reviews, languages and sort orders by country, so collect them from IPs in the market you care about.

What gets in the way

  • Review lists run to hundreds of pages, so one IP hits rate limits quickly
  • Platforms show different reviews, languages and sort orders by country
  • Datacenter IP ranges are blocked on many large review platforms

Which proxies to use

Recommended setup

Session
Rotating, one page per request
Location
The country (or city) whose reviews you track

Tip: Sort by newest and stop when you reach a review you already have. Re-reading old pages is where most data goes.

Use the official API for your own listings

If you only need reviews of your own business, the platform’s own tools are usually more reliable than collecting pages. For example, Google’s Business Profile API can list the reviews of a location in bulk and post replies; it needs OAuth 2.0 credentials for your account.

Proxies are for the rest: competitors’ listings, marketplaces and review sites without an API you can use, and checking what shoppers in each country actually see.

What to track

Keep each run small and comparable, so changes stand out:

  • New reviews and their star rating, by product or location
  • The average rating and the review count over time
  • Whether your replies show up under the review
  • Recurring words such as delivery, sizing, refund or support
  • The same listing in each country you sell in

A collection routine that stays cheap

Sort the list by newest, read page by page, and stop at the first review ID you already stored. Run on a schedule (daily is enough for most brands) and spread the runs over the day instead of starting them all on the hour.

Use a rotating line for independent pages. If a site loads reviews through several linked requests (a page, then a JSON call with a token), keep those requests on one sticky line so they come from the same IP.

Tips from our support team

  • Store each review with its platform ID, date, rating and the country you collected it from, so duplicates and translations are easy to spot.
  • Many review widgets load their data from a JSON request; fetching that instead of the full page uses far less data.
  • Collect public reviews only: don’t sign in to accounts you don’t own, and respect each site’s terms.

Questions

Which proxies are best for collecting reviews?

Rotating residential IPs suit most review sites: each page comes from a different home IP, so per-IP limits don’t stop you. Use Residential Premium for marketplaces and map listings that block cheaper pools, and datacenter IPs only for small sites that allow them.

Do I need IPs in a specific country?

Yes, whenever the platform localises reviews. Target the country of the market you track, or a city on residential plans, so you see the reviews, language and ranking a local visitor sees.

Do proxies help when collecting reviews from hotel and travel platforms?

They help with the two usual problems: rate limits and location. Rotating residential IPs spread requests so no single IP gets limited, and an IP in the traveller’s market shows the reviews, language and currency a local visitor sees. Keep request rates low and fetch only new reviews.

How much data does review monitoring use?

Pages per check × checks per day × 30 × page size. For example, 2,000 review pages checked daily at 150 KB is about 9 GB a month. Fetching only new reviews, or the JSON a review widget loads, cuts that sharply.

Is collecting reviews allowed?

Collecting public reviews is common practice, but rules differ by country and by site. Follow each site’s terms and the law where you are, and don’t keep personal data you don’t need. Our Acceptable Use Policy applies to every plan.
